How should you tune controller dead zones and sensitivity?
Open the Controller tab in controls and use the live stick test introduced in 0.4.0.192 to check for drift. As a practical tuning approach, adjust dead zones until unwanted movement stops, then test deliberate small movements. There is no official universal best sensitivity value.
- Test the standard, linear and dynamic response curves with the same target before choosing one.
- Tune vertical sensitivity and aiming sensitivity separately, then test turn acceleration at the stick edge.
- Check scope sensitivity in each supported range: up to 2x, 2x–3x, 3.5x–6x, and 7x or above.
- Try Gradual ADS Sensitivity if abrupt sensitivity changes while aiming feel uncomfortable. The old Aim acceleration setting is now named Aim smoothing.
Does Active Matter support keyboard and mouse on consoles?
Yes. Update 0.4.0.182 added support on consoles. Select Keyboard and Mouse in console crossplay settings to search, solo or as squad leader, for raids containing PC players. In console-only raids, keyboard and mouse is disabled for the raid, while the controller stays usable. Isolated Raids are exempt. Check the restriction warning before entering.
How do you reduce camera bobbing and sway?
The September 24 update added an option to reduce walking camera sway; October 9 added a setting for breathing sway. The October 15 notes also introduce Reduce camera sway for smoother view-direction changes when turning. Try these options if camera movement distracts you, and compare one change at a time.
Why did the laser or flashlight keybind change?
Update 0.4.0.196 restores separate flashlight and laser toggles, but both are bound to L by default on keyboard. If your laser previously had its own key, that binding resets to L after the update. Assign the laser a separate key again in controls. The Action Menu also lets you toggle weapon lights and lasers.
Can you use DualSense or DualShock 4 on PC?
Yes. Update 0.4.0.192 adds direct support including gyro aiming, vibration, light bar and touchpad, plus adaptive trigger effects where supported. Select the Sony controller preset manually. The notes say button prompts adapt to the connected controller when Steam Input is disabled; controls also show a hint when Steam Input intercepts the controller.
