Active Matter game modes explained

The official site describes three kinds of pressure: monsters and anomalies, other operatives competing for resources, and dedicated player-versus-player battles. Knowing the difference helps you choose the right learning environment.

PvPvE raids

PvPvE places operatives and hostile entities in the same unstable zone. It is the mode to learn when you want the full extraction loop, but it asks you to read both AI behavior and player risk.

PvE pressure

PvE keeps the attention on monsters, entities, anomalies, and the environment. It is useful for learning routes and item handling without assuming every sound is a player.

Dedicated PvP

The official site also calls out dedicated PvP battles. Use these when your goal is direct combat practice rather than carrying a raid inventory through a return route.

Which mode first?

  • Start with the least expensive option available to learn movement and inventory behavior.
  • Move to PvPvE when you can explain why you are entering a room.
  • Treat dedicated PvP as deliberate aim and positioning practice.
